Overview

Writing skills are polished for college essays and workplace communication. Students build financial literacy and expand technological skills. Qur’an and Islamic Studies remain central—true success is measured in one’s taqwa (righteousness and piety). We offer a dual-pronged Islamic Studies curriculum with options in both Sunni and Shia tracks.

Dual Enrollment Program (Grades 10–12)

Qualified students can earn college credit while in high school through approved providers, with time built into the school day for independent study and coursework.

  • Who can participate: 10th–12th graders meeting eligibility and receiving school approval.
  • Course load: 10th grade: up to 1 course (one open period). 11th–12th grade: up to 2 courses (two open periods).
  • Providers: Montgomery College (online or in person) and Pearson Online Academy (virtual).
  • Eligibility: Minimum 3.0 GPA, good academic/behavioral standing, and pre-approval by administration & the college advisor.
  • Course guidelines: College-level, credit-bearing courses only; no remedial/non-credit, and no duplication of courses already offered at MCS/AA.
  • Tuition reimbursement: School reimburses tuition only for approved courses completed with a final grade of B or higher (submit final grade report and proof of payment). Books/fees/materials are not covered.
  • Scheduling & credit: Courses are coordinated with a student’s plan; high-school credit recorded on the MCS/AA transcript. College credit depends on the receiving institution.
  • Extras: Summer courses may be approved. Students may request more than the standard allotment with approval, but reimbursement is limited to the grade-level allowance.

Advanced Placement (AP) Coursework

AP courses challenge students with college-level content and prepare them for College Board examinations. A qualifying score may earn college credit or advanced standing, depending on the policy of the receiving institution. Annual offerings vary based on student interest and enrollment. For current AP offerings and guidance, please contact the school office or counselor.

Graduation & Service Learning

To graduate, students earn a minimum of 21 credits in the course of study above. Course credit is awarded upon successful completion of all coursework and exams. One credit equals the yearly equivalent of 180 minutes/week of instruction.

Students must also fulfill financial obligations and remediate any transcript grades of F or I (Incomplete) prior to receiving a diploma.

Service Learning: Per MSDE, graduates complete 75 hours of student service with preparation, action, and reflection components. Special recognition is given at 300+ hours. Middle school students in good standing may begin accruing hours in 7th grade. Official forms are available in the main office.
