Pre-K Goals

In our Pre-K classroom, students explore the foundations of learning through hands-on activities and play. They will develop skills in letters, shapes, numbers, patterns, counting, positions, basic math, and sounds. Creativity flourishes through arts and crafts as children practice drawing, cutting, and gluing. Exciting hands-on science experiments introduce them to the world of STEAM — always a favorite among our young learners!

Your child will build confidence through public speaking, sharing with others, and engaging in free play at various stations — including drama/acting, art, and more. Our students also enjoy exciting field trips throughout the DC area, visiting Smithsonian museums, local farms, and even the neighborhood fire station!

Parent involvement is an important part of our Pre-K program! Throughout the year, families are invited to join us for special events like Mommy & Me Day, STEAM Day, International Day, Career Day, and exciting field trips. These activities create meaningful opportunities for parents to engage with their child’s learning and be part of our classroom community.
Children will thrive in a safe and nurturing Islamic environment where faith is at the heart of learning. Our Pre-K program integrates daily opportunities for Quranic memorization, helping young learners build a strong spiritual foundation and develop a lifelong connection to the words of Allah. Students will also practice speaking in front of their peers, fostering confidence and communication skills, while engaging in lessons on Islamic morals, traditions, and values. Through these experiences, children begin their journey of character building, learning kindness, respect, and responsibility in light of Islamic teachings.

Teacher’s Note

Sr. Irda

My name is Irda Nurwahyuni. I was born in a small village in Indonesia and spent my childhood playing outdoors.

I’ve been teaching Pre-K for 11 years. Al-Hamdulillah I really enjoy and love being around young children! Everyday I look forward to coming to school and spending time with my students. They are the love of my life.

My goal is to promote basic spiritual Islamic learning and knowledge along with the emotional, intellectual, physical, social, and academic skills for our students.

Students in our class learn through hands on experiences and by exploring concepts at their own pace.

Our goal is to give them opportunities that allow them to explore, discover, and enrich their minds through singing, learning traditional dances, cooking and playing all sorts of games, indoors and out.

Sr. Maryam

I am a dedicated and creative Pre-K teacher with 4 years of experience working with children ages 3 to 5. I am passionate about creating a warm, safe, and engaging classroom environment where young learners can grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Through play-based learning, storytelling, hands-on activities, and art, I strive to make learning joyful and meaningful for every child in my care.

Testimonials

Having our daughter start her first year of school with Sr. Irda and Sr. Maryam’s Pre-K class was one of the biggest blessings that we could ever ask for. Their patience, creativity, passion, and enthusiasm is incomparable. Everyday, our daughter is beyond excited to go to school!

She has so much fun there, but at the same time, she loves getting to play, learn, explore, and interact with her classmates. The curriculum is excellent, and they have weekly Art, PE, and Quran classes, which the kids really enjoy.

As a parent, being able to watch your child meet new milestones each week and continue to gain confidence, along with a sense of independence, has been priceless. We are forever grateful to MCS/AA for the positive experience so far and encourage all parents to not miss this wonderful opportunity for their child to be in Sr. Irda and Sr. Maryam’s Pre-K class!
